Hiring from grad schools is a great experience. You come across students of a variety of hues.

There are students who are just concerned about ‘cracking’ that tough test that we administer to screen talent. There are others who read up every word of our website and all associated terms and are full of questions during our pre-placement talks and in interviews. Then there are the geeks who have their notions about how we should run our business. And there are also those mavericks who do not know care to know our name or business even when they fill the auditorium where we introduce ourselves.

We love all of them. A good number of us were like a good number of them. So, we tell ourselves that if could come this long a way and still see a great road ahead, we can be reasonably sure that all these undergrad and grad students have the spark in them that will help us and our clients grow.

Simple Process

We respect the process the institution lays out for us. It has been a grand company introduction in some renowned grad schools and talking to a large body of students. In some places it has also been setting up a stall and conversing one on one with students.

Students who sign-up for our placement process have to take a test. This test is usually pretty tough. It rewards a sound knowledge of fundamentals and quick and accurate, multi-dimensional thinking

The test is a screen. We then talk to a short-list of students. These talks can run into multiple rounds – three, five or in some cases seven.

Each set of rounds creates a short-list till we get to the final list.

What do we look for?

We look for what students have done in their academics and related activities

We look for well-rounded personalities. So great extra-curricular activities and great academics is a great combination

We also look for what the student can do – the potential, the drive, the energy, the team spirit, the creativity and more

We look for people who can live with our motto of growing with our clients. We look for people who can grow with us.

People mean serious business to Kuliza and its clients. Technical expertise, ability to envision solutions, prowess to architect and design, the attitude to build and work with highly motivated teams and the knack to see the bigger picture are elements of professionals that make up the Kuliza DNA. We proudly call this DNA the ‘Agile DNA’ and this is the cornerstone of the recruitment process.

What We Expect

Technical abilities, skills of working in open source or proprietary technologies, architecting and design skills, ability to think about the entire product life cycle while maintaining a business savvy approach and leadership are all attributes in a team at Kuliza.

We expect that you should be able to stand up to every word that you have written in your resume. By this we mean that even when we cross-check your references, we should be able to verify what you have said. We expect a sound knowledge of fundamentals, the right attitude to work in growing teams, the ability to look into the future while developing products, always think about the bigger picture and think from the client’s shoes.

What Should You Expect

Amid all the grilling and informality expect the best professional ethics from all our interviewers. We are an equal opportunity provider and do not differentiate on any count other than the points of excellence that we have mentioned above.

The Process

Now that we have talked about things that are the most important to us, here is our process:

We scan through your resume for a fit

In case we decide that you are better suited for other organizations, we tell you the exact reasons why we think so

If you are present in the same city as we are or are open to travel, we would love to meet you in person. Otherwise the first few rounds are telephonic

We ensure that different team members talk to you so that we understand you better and you are able to gauge the nature of the work and the team – that helps both of us in taking decisions

If you clear the screen rounds and subsequent ones, we make it a point that you get a well-rounded big picture view from the hiring manager.

If at any stage, in between, we feel that with your interests and expertise, you could contribute better elsewhere (in a different team at Kuliza or other organizations), we tell you about it

When you are made an offer, we ensure that parameters on which you need to base your decision of joining us are laid out and that we are available and prepared for any of your questions

We want a fully satisfied professional joining us. That is the best known driver for any kind of growth
